Economic Contraband of Transnistria
The economy of Transnistria is being considered as a mixed economy. Their mixed economy comprises of a large scale of privatisation process in late 90s by which most of the companies in Transnistria are privately owned. Their mixed economy also comprises of steel production, electricity production and manufacturing (textile production). One unique aspect on the economy of Transnistria is that they have their own central bank. This central bank issues a ""Transnistrian currency"" also known as Transnistrian ruble. It is convertible at a freely floating exchange rate within Transnistria. Although Transnistria has great economic status, their economy is being described as dependent on contraband and gun exchange.
